Chinese Pv Manufacturer To Invest 11bn In Naples Facility To Boost Solar Manufacturing Capacity In The Region

Huasun to build 24GW factory in Italy to beef up European solar module supply

Chinese PV manufacturer to invest €1.1bn in Naples facility to boost solar manufacturing capacity in the region

Huasun, part of China’s Sungrow group, has announced that it will build a €1.1bn (US$1.2bn) new manufacturing facility in Naples, Italy, with an annual capacity of 24GW. The plant will be used to produce bifacial 182mm solar modules. This will be the largest manufacturing site in Europe for the Chinese PV manufacturer, which is aiming to increase its capacity by 50% with the new factory.

Once the factory is complete, it will reportedly be the fourth-largest in the world for solar panel production, making Huasun one of the top five solar module manufacturers globally. The investment will also see the creation of 800 new jobs in Italy.

A significant portion of the factory's production will reportedly be used to meet rising solar demand within Italy, particularly in the residential sector, which is a major driver for growth in the country.

Italy has a long history of solar manufacturing, and the addition of Huasun's factory is expected to further boost the country’s solar industry. Huasun is one of the few European countries with a long history of solar manufacturing, and the factory will add to its existing capacity of 3GW.
